We spent our first week in Quetzaltenango, usually called Xela after its Mayan name. We attended Spanish language school through Centro Maya de Idiomas and lived with a local family.

The Museum of Natural History which involves lots of formaldehyde and contains the famous fan which was "owned by a very important and influential woman, but we can't reveal her name for very special and important reasons."
